My experience with Chicken Pox

The very first thing, its ugly and smell's a lot.
Its normally observed that someone do not get Chicken Pox( giving respect, so i made 'C' and 'P' capital :P )  if he had it before. It is caused by varicella zoster virus, it resides in your body if you've had it once making your body immune with . I had Chicken Pox when i was less than one year old and second time when i am 21.

Its a contagious disease, to prove,
it started from the son of my mess aunty. From it flowed to my friend, from him to my room mate and finally to me, makes sense B-)
The very first symptom is mild fever, which you would surely ignore but its with little body ache. Fever will go down early but ache remains.
Then there would first few rashes on neck, back and in few cases like me on face directly. That would remain for a day, and helps your doctor to confirm that yes, you have joined fraternity of Chicken Pox.
As soon as you are confirmed patient of Chicken Pox you are untouchable :P
Firstly you think its cool, you are away from college for more than 10 days, will enjoy with your laptop and internet, play games and all,, but truth is you get bored first day.
I saw my room mate and friend going through the disease so i took a decision and went for my home. It was 2 days after my confirmation that i reached home, and my face was full of rashes. Finally i found, its not only my face but my back and chest too. Well it was expected so no surprise. They come into your mouth too.
Little weakness on 3rd and 4th day followed by boredom everyday. Mom din't gave me any salt and oil for more than a week, says this helps. More warmness in body make them come fast.
There is only one medicine which cuts multiplication of virus. I started taking 800mg 5 times a day. Days goes in boredom, tried to study few times but failed. When in disease you just can't concentrate on one thing.

Now its been a week, the rashes on my face have dried and no new. Have started eating better things and will be going back to college in few days.
Anyways just wanted to share with all, my experience.

Remove Facebook rotating image spam

Firstly i thought removing the cookies and cache will clear the stuff but it doesn't help. The attackers who made the JavaScript  had actually utilized the email address given by Facebook which most of us don't have a idea exist even.

So we have to refresh that also after removing cookies and cache of browser. This came from the fact that when you see the status update it says via email, and thats the email they targeted.
Follow these simple steps to follow to remove the spam completely:-

1. Remove all the cookies and cache of browser + go to control panel -> network and internet ->delete browsing history and cookies. In the general tab click setting under browsing history as shown.
Click view files after the clicking settings tab. Delete all the files in there.
Now clear the cookies and cache that your browser stores from its settings.

2. After deleting all the files. Go to this link while you are logged in Facebook http://www.facebook.com/mobile/
Here you must see upload via Facebook. Click the picture above it. This is the email you can use to update status of your Facebook, post pics and much more.

Now, you have this.

Click on refresh your email, and  it will ask for your permission that if you are sure to do it. Say reset and a final success message with a new email address will be given to you.

And you are done... no more rotating image spam to your Facebook wall.

Summarizing: 1. Delete all the cookies and clear browser cache.
                     2. Refresh the email of the Facebook.

Please comment if any problem in the steps or the spam persist.

8051 Simulator

For many students of TE Comp. Sci. and others too this could be useful, a 8051 simulator. There are many available on internet but many of them don't work. I tried this and it worked well for me.
Download 8051 simulator here
Follow simple steps given in the install.txt file in the download.

After that to make a new project follow these simple steps:-
1. Open keil uvision 3 from startup.

2. Project->New uVision Project

3. Give it a name and save.

4. Select IC Atmel 89C51, looks good for our 8051 simulation. You can choose the one you want, details about it are given on right hand side.

5. Press OK.

6. File->NEW

7. A text file will open. Write your asm code here and save it as ".asm"

8. Add the saved file to the project we just created on the left, using right click and add file. You need to show all files in order to see ".asm" files , the default is ".c" files.
For eg.
MOV R0,#04
MOV A,#01
LABEL:
MOV B,R0
MUL AB
DJNZ R0,LABEL
RET
END
This was my code for Factorial of 4, you can see some changes than what we use to write on kit. a) we have to use label here instead of address for jump
b) register B which has address F0 is also changed on line 4.

9. Project-> Translate Current File
Project-> Build Target File
Project-> Rebuild all Target File
This will show you errors if any in the bottom of the software.

10. Go to debug and press start debugging session.

11. Debug->Run
You can see all the registers changing on the left.
In my program the register 'a' got a value 0x18 i.e 24 .. factorial of 4.

Well this is kinda useful for practicing 8051 extra assignment list. You can explore more.. like while in debugging mode you can see the timer of the micro controller and even SCON and SBUF register values. ( goto peripherals and select what you need).

Still have a doubt feel free to ask a question. Only 8051 related queries please.

-It's a place to find peace, after all your frustration, on your college, your project or anything. You will surely love this place. Its on way to a hill. You will find bikes parked there, that's how first time i found this place. Take something to eat and LBT!
It's around 6-7 km's from PICT campus, take the way to kondhwa and ask someone about singhad, kondhwa and straight from there to the hill.

3. Unnamed Place 1
-Not hard to find and easy refreshment after college hours. They have SEV PAV and SAMOSA PAV. Its on the way to BSNL office in the back side of college. To spot the place, again you will find many people standing + there is a tuition classes nearby. The place got no name.

The power of Books

Books are the most versatile things on earth. It is amazing to know in what all ways books can help us. No wonder they are known as man’s best friends, second only to dogs!

Here listed below are some of the many uses of books. Check how many of them you can identify with.

  • The most primary and the most obvious use of books, even to those who can’t read, is weightlifting. It is really interesting how a bunch of papers, which negligible mass of their own, when combined, can compete with dumb-bells. The accomplished heavyweights being medical anthologies.
  • Books sometimes serve as secure treasure troves. Be it fresh 1000 Rs. notes or a rare leaf collected or the golden Dairy Milk wrappers, we always cherish them by storing them in huge books. The bigger the book, the crisper is the note, or the wrapper.
  • On one of those days, when you have friends at your place, and you want to play the turn-based board games; everything is all set up, except the most important thing – dice. Where else can a book be handy. You just flip the pages and stop at any random one; the units place digit of the page number is your number to move!
  • Books also are impressive canvases. Just recall all those days in class spent in sketching the most intricate drawings in every corner of book. Logos, sceneries, calligraphy of the highest order, and other such superb pieces that even you are amazed to know you created them, when you look back at them.
  • They serve as the perfect alibi. You are, say, in a library, checking out a girl/boy (choose your pick), and he/she suddenly catches you staring, you can always immerse yourself back into the book you are holding, feigning utmost concentration.
  • This one is not exactly a use, but just drawn out a similarity – alcoholic beverages. They can make you nauseous, make your head spin. Books too possess similar powers.
  • The last, and the best use. The most dependable, no-harm sleeping pills. That too, without any side-effects. The sleep, or nap, that you doze off into, while reading a particularly boring book, is the quickest, and the most blissful sleep one can ever have, right in the middle of the day. Try it, it’s the best you can experience. And, unlike pills, or alcohol, books are totally unaddictive!

I, myself, am an avid reader, and love reading books that enthrall me. So it be known, that the books mentioned here are the ones that are haplessly put onto us by the syllabus. The gigantic, totally non-arousing, downright creepy, and almost cruel syllabi texts one encounters. You know the kind.

My last 5 movies..must watch

College was over, submissions done. I haven't watched a movie from last many months, not because of college but i don't wanted to waste a hour and few mins for a movie which in end is found to be a piece of crap. But last five movies i watched were damn good and almost all were of same genre.

1. First was THE BUTTERFLY EFFECT, it was based on a paranormal activity. The movie makes a buffer of watching it complete, the end was as expected, but to my surprise the movie has 4 different endings, yup one movie with four endings!

2. Next in the list was THE PRESTIGE, movie about magicians. The movie has big names like Hugh Jackman(the wolverine) and Christian Bale(Batman), and is directed by none other than Christopher Nolan who had movies like The Dark Night and Memento.
The movie binds you all over as it flows, a complete movie with superb acted by both the jacks.

3. The third movie i watched was SHUTTER ISLAND, a complete movie. Before i was going to watch this movie i was warned by one of my friend that it should be seen only if you free and have your brain at right place. This movie don't let you think what could be the next!

4. The next movie was the Classic IMDB highest rated movie THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION. The movie has no twist and turn but still its a good movie to watch, it makes you laugh, cry and everything, it has all of it. The movie is based on a guy who went to Shawshank prison for his redemption.

5. The Illusionist was next title for me, like prestige it was based on magician theme but a completely different movie. This movie take your nerves in the end, the best way to keep everything from audience and blast in last.

My personal rating for the movies would be:
1. The Prestige
2/3. Shutter Island and The Shawshank Redemption
4. The Illusionist
5. The Butterfly Effect

So if you are in mood to watch a movie, i recommend you to go watch the above list.

Running Graphics-C in windows 7 or Vista

DOSBOX VIEW

I have seen many people struggling over this so just thought to write a small post over this. Most of the SE students are working with the C-graphics and must be finding problem because of the operating system they are using.
One of the two ways is(that i know):
1. Install Microsoft Virtual PC 2007 which is free of cost and plant MS XP in that. Dos mode works fine in XP.
2. I feel this one is better than the 1st one
Download a freeware Dos-box from here .
It's a emulator for dos ....provide a 16bit envoirment. Install the dos-box and open it.
You have to write following lines whenever you start the dos-box which opens just like a normal app.
-- Mount the drive in which you have turbo-C
For example i have turbo-C complier at location C:\tc\bin

so i write
mount c c:\
c:
cd tc
cd bin
tc
Have attached a pic of the same at top.

and you are done with it.
Use the Compiler as you use on a 16-bit machine.

Refining your Google Search

Ever 'Googled' something, and found that most of the links are plain useless?
Here are quick tips to refine your searches:

1. to search within a particular website (from your google home-page), type the keyword to be searched for, followed by "site: www.mysite,com", without the quotes ;) . The site, 'mysite.com' will be searched for the keyword.

2. searching for definitions?, type "define: word", you'll be given links to all the available definitions of the word on the web.

3. to find a phrase, enclose it within " ", and the exact phrase will be searched for.

4. type a + sign before a keyword to search for that specific word only, and not it's variations like plural or any tenses or synonyms.

5. search with a ~ (tilde) before a word, and get results for the word, and it's synonyms. "~auto" searches for both the word auto and its synonyms: truck, car, etc.

6. search for "virus -computer" to get results for virus, but not related to computer.

7. "info: www.mysite.com" searches for information about the given site.

8.
"related: www.mysite.com" searches for pages related to the given site.

9. " [#]...[#] ", ([#] represents a number) searches within a range of numbers, e.g. laptop Rs.30,000...60,000 to find laptops within this range.

10. xyz * abc searches for the words xyz and abc separated by a word or two.

StumbleUpon it.
